Gulthmere Forest Cave Entrance

Our heroes manage to fend off the dragon. They continue to wander towards the center of the forest, where the map indicates the portal location. They come across a small cave entrance. The ground leading in is hard packed from use, but no fresh tracks indicate a current resident. Crawling through the opening, the tunnel leads down until opening into a 20 foot dome. Scorch marks and soot mark campfires years, if not decades past.
Lungs still recovering from the dragon's poisonous breath, they make camp in the cave, the smoke trickling up and out the tunnel.

It's seems this forest has a protector, or at least a greedy tyrant. It may be more difficult to get to the portal than we thought.

We might be in trouble if it brings help. If they're attracted to places of magic, we should be getting close.

[color=#32cd32]That's one theory, but the portals I've been through are generally hidden in plain sight, in the most ancient parts of the forest, the Hearts, where the first trees took root. I doubt we'll find that in a cave, but I suppose it's not impossible. Dragon's are generally more attracted to gold, greedy creatures most of them. [\color]
